The KTM North America, Inc. and PIERER New Mobility North America organisation celebrated the official formal inauguration of PIERER Mobility AG's brand-new North American Headquarters in Murrieta, California, on Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday's festivities included a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially unveil the world-class facilities dedicated to the company's premium motorcycle brands KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles, GASGAS, and MV Agusta, as well as bicycle brands Husqvarna E-Bicycles, GASGAS Bicycles, and FELT Bicycles, and high-end components under the WP brand.
Since 1967, PIERER Mobility AG, the parent company of the most recognisable two-wheeled brands, has been an active participant in the North American market from its headquarters in Austria. On Tuesday, the CEO of PIERER Mobility AG, Stefan Pierer, and members of the global Board of Directors were present to commemorate the momentous occasion.
"Today is an emotional day for me," stated Stefan Pierer, chief executive officer of PIERER Mobility AG. "I launched my business in the United States 30 years ago with only a dozen employees. Today, we are Europe's foremost Powered Two-Wheeler group, selling approximately 100,000 units annually on the U.S. market, resulting in sales of more than $1 billion. Racing is the most significant success factor for us; it has propelled us over the years, even on the American market. The construction of our new North American headquarters in Murrieta represented our largest investment to date. We established a new benchmark for the entire US market."
The new headquarters is part of KTM North America's commitment to grow the sport of motorcycling by investing continuously in infrastructure, research and development, technical training, and continuing education for its industry-leading products and technologies. Specifically, in North America, the organisation has expanded from 30 employees in 2009 to nearly 360 employees in 2023, and this new facility provides additional space for expansion and growth to support its network of more than 1,000 independently owned small businesses throughout North America.
John Hinz, CEO of KTM North America, Inc. and PIERER New Mobility North America, Inc., addressed the group on Tuesday afternoon, stating, "Today is a monumental day in the annals of our company. Mr. Pierer is responsible for the single largest investment made by our corporation in our campus and facilities. We designed these facilities for our employees, race teams, and athletes, as well as our dealers across North America, in order to support our brands and increase sales. This new campus showcases not only the facilities as a tool for our employees and dealers, but also our commitment, dedication, and investment in the North American motorcycle and bicycle industry."
The development, which is located on 20 acres of land adjacent to the French Valley Airport just off Winchester Road, was announced in August 2021, and construction began in November of that year. The $53 million corporate campus is now operational with three state-of-the-art buildings that include over 130,000 square feet of space dedicated to the company's technical development, administrative offices, media relations, dealer training, warehouse, and world championship racing departments, with 12 acres reserved for future development.
RD Field, the group's purpose-built private motorsports facility, is located one block south of the company's corporate campus and is equipped with two supercross test tracks, a hard enduro test track, and a trials competition section for product testing and athlete training.
